The Commonwealth Rural Access Initiative was formed by rural and industry advocates to accelerate the deployment of broadband technologies to all corners of Virginia, with a special focus on un-served areas.
Reaching this goal will require a multi-dimensional effort as every community faces unique circumstances and challenges.
Our approach is to advance public-private partnerships, seek policy changes at the state and local levels that encourage investment in rural areas and deepen the understanding of how broadband technology can improve the quality of life in rural Virginia.
The Commonwealth Rural Access Initiative is co-chaired by the leadership of the Center for Rural Virginia and the Virginia Telecommunications Industry Association.
Our members are diverse including individuals, businesses and organizations all united by their interest in speeding ubiquitous deployment of broadband.
We believe that only an effort that combines the innovation and entrepreneurship of the industry with a commitment to promote opportunities and prosperity in rural areas can succeed.
